THE OPPORTUNITY
The Human Resource Generalist is accountable for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting the development of the company’s culture and goal attainment. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, retention, training, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs. They will be an advocate and ambassador of the company’s culture who promotes the vision, mission, and values of Steel Encounters.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manage the sourcing and recruiting process, ensure accurate job descriptions, write job postings for Applicant Tracking System (ATS), job boards, and maintain employee referral program.
- Research recruiting best practices and make recommendations regarding advertising campaigns to maintain steady pipeline of candidates & promote Steel Encounters as an employer of choice.
- Experience developing and implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and gamification goal recognition systems is a plus.
- Help create an onboarding LMS driven new hire orientation/training process from start to finish (offboarding).
- Conduct Verification of Employment and maintain all necessary documentation.
- Administration retirement programs specifically 401(k) & ESOP, provide education, enrollment, compliance oversight.
- Monitor and manage unemployment insurance processes, DWS correspondence, respond to unemployment request. Research, prepare and submit documentation on time for appeal hearings.
- Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company's standards.
- Help manage retention, engagement, and organizational structure activities
- Provide training on performance management and employee relations issues.
- Assist in developing guidance on training, development, legal compliance and certification programs for the company.

QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational development, or related field
- 3-5 years of human resource experience preferable in employee relations and recruiting.
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred
- Advanced skill with Word, Excel, Power Point, ATS, SmartSheet and HRIS software
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Responsible and professional in approach to work
