THE OPPORTUNITY
The Project Engineer is responsible for creating and executing “The Design and Procurement Plan’ for assigned projects and is responsible for the production of shop drawings, prepares materials lists and Bills of Materials, and assists in the coordination of changes or revisions. Works as a partnering team with the Construction personnel to execute contractual requirements in an efficient and timely manner. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead product design and implementation for the project.
- Supervise the development of project shop drawings (plans, elevations, sections, embeds, details, etc.).
- Create technical details for architectural exterior facade products including aluminum curtain wall, metal panels, terracotta, screen walls, and exterior shading systems.
- Verify structural and thermal design requirements to ensure compliance of our supplied products with project specifications.
- Coordinate facade dimensions to ensure a proper fit between products and building structures.
- Design and coordinate multiple system interface details to accommodate differential movements imposed by seismic drift, thermal expansion, wind load, and structural live load deflection for building façade.
- Design and coordinate system tie-in to rain screen air barrier systems.
- Coordinate drawings and dimensions with other trades interfacing with our work.
- Initiate RFIs
- Understanding of building codes governing building facades.
- Develop 3D drawings to simplify the communication of complicated details and detection of problems.
- Supervise the production of shop drawings.
- Check and/or oversee checking of drawings, material takeoffs, part drawings, etc.
- Work closely with the Project manager to meet project milestones and objectives.
- Oversee structural calculations and engineered stamped drawings.
- Reviews and obtains engineering to confirm the system supplied conforms with the project engineering requirements
- Partner with Estimator, Project Manager and vendors to develop complete coordination of project requirements i.e. documents, schedules, installation instructions and special considerations to execute contractual obligations.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Mechanical or Structural Engineering or the equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of glazing, curtain wall, or other building facade experience.
- Advanced knowledge and ability in AutoCAD 2D, proficient in BIM 3D modeling software such as Revit, Solidworks or Inventor.
- Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Outlook, Excel spreadsheet, and database
- Strong understanding of building construction methods and detailing
- Able to read and understand blueprints
- Able to utilizes general and advanced math skills, including algebra, trigonometry, and geometry
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal relations skills.
