THE OPPORTUNITY
The Construction Project Manager (PM) is the key leader and organizer of Steel Encounters construction project management team. The PM will lead and maintain the focus of Steel Encounters' project team of Estimators, Engineers, Quality Assurance, Safety Specialists, Fabricators and Installation professionals through the effective use of project scheduling, timely procurement, equipment, safety, and site logistics planning. Keeps an open line of communication between sales and estimating, project management, and fabrication while being an advocate of company culture. The Construction Project Manager assesses and responds to customer needs and cultivates customer relationships through proactive interaction with project owners.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Schedule: Communicate and follow-up on project milestones and goals, by implementing and maintaining project schedules through design-assist, engineering, detailing, procurement, fabrication, and installation timelines to meet contractual requirements.
  • Develop project-specific logic for material procurement and packaging, site logistics, hoisting, and equipment to efficiently manage onsite installation labor
  • Design-Assist Timeline: Share technical expertise with the project team through the development of project Facade to meet building codes, budget and installation logic. Provide effective value engineering ideas to bring the project in on time and on budget.
  • Draft clear RFI's, correct and timely change orders and ensure information is received and payment is made on change orders. 
  • Engineering and Detailing Timeline: Provide input into the development of air and vapor barriers, rain screen support structures and fenestration system designs to create ease of installation and long-term Facade performance. Coordinate with Engineering Team for efficient anchor, substructure and reinforcement designs and final stamped calculations.
  • Procurement: Direct project assistant in the collection and submission of complete product submittals per specifications and contractual requirements and exclusions. In preparation to place material purchase orders, direct engineering to prepare material takeoff packages to meet project sequencing and delivery requirements.
  • Budget: Manage all aspects of the project budget, including material procurement, labor tracking, change orders, and monthly progress billings, and provide valuable insight on how to bring projects in under budget
  • Quality Assurance: Coordinate with Quality Assurance Professionals to ensure product installation details and instructions are properly turned over to fabrication and installation teams with specific project quality assurance plan
  • Safety: Coordinate with Safety Manager to ensure project safety plan complies with contractual requirements, high-risk activities are identified and mitigated

KEYS TO SUCCESS

  • MUST HAVE five+ years of experience in the Commercial Construction, glazing, building façade, panel industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent construction project management experience
  • Proficient in scheduling software, such as Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office products and Outlook software
  • Knowledge of International Building Code and its application to our work
  • Knowledgeable with Blue Beam, Procore, or similar software
  • Collaborate effectively with company and project team
  • Responsible and professional in approach to work
  • Showing pride in your work by being concerned about the details and making sure the work is done correctly and completely
  • Shows initiative and takes accountability for the outcome of decisions
  • Shows good judgment in decision-making
