What is a Glazier Apprenticeship?

A glazier, architectural metal and glass worker are individuals who work with glass and architectural metal. They fabricate aluminum (or other related metals) that is used in the construction of buildings or storefronts. From the sill flashing to the top of the parapet cap on high rise buildings is where you will find them

 

Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age by July 31, 2019
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, which includes lifting 25 lbs. repeatedly during an 8 hour work shift and walk with ease on uneven slippery surfaces
  • Willing to work outdoors year-round in the heat, cold and snow
  • Able to read, write and speak the English language
  • Provide evidence of legal employable status in the United States of America
  • Ability to read a measuring tape
  • Able to add, subtract and multiply fractions

What You Will Learn

You will learn to cut, fabricate, and install glass, architectural metal and aluminum panels, windows, doors, and commercial store fronts. Apprentices will also learn to safely install glass curtain walls in high rise office buildings.


Apprenticeship Program 

You are required work full time in the field. After tan ntroductory period, the classroom portion of the program will begin on August 20, 2019. Not only will you be learning in the classroom, you will be gaining practical work experience while earning a living.
