THE OPPORTUNITY

Steel Encounters is seeking a Scheduler/Assistant Commercial Construction. This role is designed to support the Scheduler in creating and maintaining the company’s commercial construction schedules. They will also assist Project Manager(s)with day-to-day responsibilities of managing and successfully executing commercial construction projects. This is a critical position for Steel Encounters' project management team. Working alongside the Project Managers and the Scheduler, this position is involved in nearly every aspect of the project and strives diligently to ensure the successful attainment of its objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Continual and effective communication with customers and project team.
  • Assist the Architectural Department Scheduler in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of project schedules for the installation, fabrication, and procurement of commercial building façades
  • Schedule: Assist the Project Manager (PM) and Department Scheduler in the development of a complete project schedule. Regularly communicate scheduling, tracking, and planning for commercial glazing projects expectations to team members and consistently follow-up on project milestones and goals.
  • Maintain spreadsheets for successful project planning, tracking and verification
  • Report accurate quantity takeoffs for varying products within a project
  • Assist Project Managers and Foremen to complete an Equipment plan
  • Submittals: Under the direction of the PM, responsible for the collection and submission of complete product submittals per specifications and contractual requirements and exclusions.
  • RFIs: Work closely with Pre-Construction (Engineering) staff, vendors, and subs, the PM, and our customers to write, resolve, and fully process RFIs in a timely manner.
  • Document Control: responsible for the maintenance of the architectural conformance documents post-project award and turnover from Estimating. Assist PM and Estimator in the management of change documents and collaboration with Engineering and outside vendors on the incorporation of approved changes into shop drawings
  • Procurement: Work with PM and Engineering staff to prepare material takeoff packages to meet project sequencing and delivery requirements. Assist PM with placing purchase orders and other commitments, as required
  • Act as the assistant project manager on assigned projects, at various meetings and with emails and phone calls during their absence. Work closely with Project Managers to gain further insight on project financial, schedule, and risk management.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred qualifications, but not required - Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and has completed Scheduling courses.
  • Familiar with curtain wall, storefront, glass, wall panels, entrances and other building envelope systems and products.
  • Comprehends Architectural and Structural drawings for large commercial buildings and able to reference shop drawings for quantity take offs and project planning.
  • Capable of reading construction schedules and understands the steps involved in developing and maintaining schedule
  • Proficient in scheduling software, such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office products and Outlook software.
  • Knowledge of International Building Code and its application to our work.
  • Knowledgeable with Blue Beam, ProCore, or similar software.

WAGES & BENEFITS:

  • Salary $61,000 to $70,000 - based on experience and education
  • Cell phone reimbursement ($40.00 per month)

  • Health Insurance (Company pays 75% of Premium) and Wellness program ($50 per month)
